Ruby is from the last litter planned by Linda and was born just 2 weeks before she died, so Linda never got to see her in the flesh, but I’m sure she’s keeping an eye on her progress! Ruby has exceeded all my expectations so far in her show career, one highlight for me was her being Best Bitch and RBIS at the Club Open Show in 2007 out of an entry of 127 under breed specialist Ann Hardy, handled beautifully by Karen James. In 2008 she collected 2 RCCs, one at SWKA under Meriel Hathaway and the other at SKC August from Moray Armstrong, before retiring for a few months on maternal duties. From a successful mating with Wynsett Mistero, she produced a litter of 3 bitches and 1 dog on 21st September 2008, many thanks to Barbara Abbishaw (Hastabbi HPRs) for all her help and support, Mick and I couldn’t have managed without her. Back in the ring just 11 weeks later she was 2nd in the limit class at LKA under Keith Groom, then in January 2009, she took her first BOB at Boston Champ show (no CCs) under Ann Hardy. Continuing to do well, she had a very respectable 2nd place in Limit at Crufts under Jock Mackay and a first in the Open class at 3 Counties from Pam Blay. Then the magic moment arrived and I was thrilled to bits when Ruby won her first CC from the Open bitch class of 13 entries, at East of England Champ show 2009 under Julia Iles-Hebbert, we had a wonderful day. Ruby was mated to Sh Ch Calvenace Ted Baker at Dalvenza at the end of 2009, producing a litter of 3 girls and 5 boys the following January, all brown roan this time. Although only lightly shown for the rest of the year, nevertheless, she added to her growing tally of RCCs (5 now) at Driffield under Valerie Foss. At Manchester 2011 Ruby won her second CC under Patsy Hollings (Gunalt) and completing a fabulous day for us, her daughter Crazy was Best Puppy in Breed. After winning RCC number six at Welks from Sonia Grief, Ruby delighted us by winning her 3rd CC & Show Champion Title with BOB at Leeds Champ Show from Ruth Roberts, although tinged with sadness that Linda wasn’t there to share it with us, we really appreciated the generous support and kind words from all our friends which made it a very special day.
