LATEST NEWS:

18th May 2015

Today is Sh Ch Ruby’s 10th Birthday, Happy Birthday Ruby!!!

15th May 2015

Mandy and I stayed overnight in Berwick and we managed a bit of a lie-in before completing the journey to Scotland for SKC as Spinoni were 2nd in the ring. Our breed judge was Keith Young. After a shaky start due to the fire alarms going off and having to evacuate the building just as our judging commenced, Verdi won her 1st Limit class and was awarded her first Reserve Challenge Certificate, Mandy and I floated home!

3rd April 2015

Paul Bullivant judged at Eastwood KA show & Verdi was Best of Breed.

5th March 2015

Our judge at Crufts was Dr Ron James, Verdi won 1st in the Post Graduate Bitch class and Crazy was Reserve in Limit Bitch, both from an entry of 18 exhibits.

28th February 2015

Richard Stafford judged the breed at Newark CS awarding Verdi BOB and Group 4.

22nd February 2015

Abbe Marshall-Wyer was our replacement judge at Yorkshire Gundog Club where Crazy was BOB and 2nd in the Open Stakes under John Thirlwell winning us the princely sum of £16 in total.

8th November 2014

I made the long trip to Scotland for GBAS where Meriel Hathaway was judging the breed, Jago was well placed in his breed class and was 2nd in the Open Dog Stakes. Crazy was 2nd in her breed class and took her second RCC and then went on to win the Open Bitch Stakes under the same judge. Very sadly Meriel has sinced passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, she was the very first judge I ever exhibited under when Lui was a puppy, such a kind lady who had a genuine interest and love for the breed, she will be sorely missed.

15th October 2014

Having set off in what I thought was plenty of time for GSOW where Patsy Hollings was judging the breed, we arrived in the nick of time for Jago’s open dog class. Jago won the class and was awarded the RCC. Marco, Crazy & Verdi all gained creditable places in their respective classes.

28th September 2014

Joy Corbett judged the breed at Bridgford CS held at Newark showground. Crazy won her open class & took BOB, while Verdi won the PG class & was awarded RBOB, so a good day for both the girls.

19th September 2014

Breed judge Jane Maxwell was awarding her first set of tickets at Driffield and Verdi & Crazy both won their respective classes with Crazy taking her first Reserve Challenge Certificate.

17th August 2014

Sue Blacker-Kyle and I made the long trip to Welsh Kennel Club at Builth Wells with Jago and Crazy where Julia Iles-Hebbert was judging the breed. Jago won his Open Dog Class and then went on to win his first Challenge Certificate with Best of Breed, a very proud moment for both of us, as this was a first CC for Sue and a first Lucoru CC winner for me. Needless to say, we floated home and hardly noticed how long the journey took!!

13th July 2014

We camped for the night at Solihull Riding School for the club open show, it was a bit chilly with the odd rain shower, but fortified by Bombay Sapphire and some of Charlotte’s homemade slow gin, we managed!! Just a pity the car didn’t cope as well, the battery died about 7am but the RAC made a very fast appearance and had us moving again within the hour. Graham Underwood was judging the bitches and Karen James kindly offered to handle Crazy for me and guided her to a class win and Reserve Best Brown Bitch.

Steve Bowcott judged the breed at Coventry Gundog where Crazy was BOB and shortlisted to the last 8 for Best in Show under Dr Ruth Barbour. It was the first show for Crazy's daughter Mia, Lucoru My Kinda Crazy, she had a lovely time meeting lots of other Spins and had lots of cuddles.

23rd February 2014

At Yorkshire Gundog, Crazy was a creditable 2nd in the open class and then went on to win the Open Stakes under Best in Show Judge Alan Curry from an entry of 16 with very few absentees. I spent the £5 winnings on a bottle of wine!

10th January 2014

Another lovely day at Boston Champ Show where breed specialist Virginia Bisiker was judging. We got to meet up with one of Jade's siblings, Astra and her mum Margaret. Jade won her last Junior class and Crazy was 2nd on Open Bitch and took the RBB award. We had a bash at the breeder competition, won Best Breeder and then won the Breeder Gundog Group too under another breed judge, Anne Hardy.

20th October 2013

Crazy is now back in the ring after producing a lovely litter of pups in August, she qualified for Crufts 2014 with a 3rd place in Limit Bitch at both SWKA and GSOW, her first time in Limit after an absence of nearly a year. At Yorkshire Gundog, she was 1st Limit, then BOB from an entry of 18 dogs, then Best in Show Three and Best Opposite Sex in Show, so we brought home a lovely trophy to display on the mantle as well as some beautiful rosettes

20th September 2013

Mandy and I went to Driffield Champ Show with Jago and Verdi, Jago was a creditable 3rd in the Limit Dog class, while Verdi won the Junior Bitch class, so we celebrated by buying a lovely red rosette from Dalsetter.

At a very damp Darlington Champ Show, Verdi was 2nd in the JB class, while Jago was 3rd in his Limit class in the breed under Chris Atkinson, then a rush to the other side of the showground where Jago was 3rd in the Open Stakes under Christina Chapman, winning us the princely sum of £5.

25th August 2013

I took Rob and Sue's Jago, (L Midnight Jet) to SKC where Keith Groom was the breed judge, Jago won the Limit Dog class and therefore his Stud Book Number. Although I have other stud book numbers, this is my first from a litter that I bred myself, so a very proud moment for us all.

7th August 2013

Crazy had her litter safely in record time, just over 4 hours, to produce 4 dogs and 4 bitches, 2 of the girls are brown roan and all the rest are white and orange. Mum and babies all thriving.

14th July 2013

I had the honour of being asked to judge the dogs at the ISCGB Open Show, Annette Wijnsouw (Stannamore) did the bitches. The colours were split again and I had a lovely entry and a super day. Best white and orange was Vic Glazik’s Sh Ch Bedeslea Daydream, Thompson is a 7 year old veteran although I don’t think he realises! Best brown roan and eventual Best in Show winner was Steve and Dale Bowcott’s Sh Ch Calvenace Ted Baker at Dalvenza.

11th July 2013

The second evening show this week and both held at the Oakridge Riding School not far from the Newark showground, a number of societies have chosen to use this venue now and I like it. It’s clean, the staff are very obliging and if you haven’t taken food, the canteen has some good and very reasonably priced choices. The ground is firm and ideal for showing Spins, although on this particular occasion the ring size was far from ideal, but we’ve been promised better for next year! After judging, a number of us stayed behind to enjoy the evening sunshine and had a picnic, great way to end the evening. Our judge this time was Sherril Goodwin (Spitewinter) and Jade was again Best Puppy, while Verdi won the Post Graduate Class, took BOB then Gundog Group 4 under John Moxon.

9th July 2013

Shelagh Tolladay was judging at Dukeries Gundog and made Jade her Best Puppy.

8th July 2013

Crazy (L Bombay Sapphire) has been confirmed in Whelp to Jean Houltram’s w/o boy Caldocani Cesario JW with pups being due at the beginning of August. Rio has a good hip score of 4:5 is CA clear (both parents tested). There maybe a couple of pups still available to the right loving home, depending on what colours/sexes she produces, please contact me for details.

15th June 2013

A long trip to Border Union for Jade and myself with Vic and James where we stayed overnight at a lovely Pub in a village just outside Kelso, Typically Jade wouldn’t have a pee either when we arrived or before we went to bed, she has a favourite spot at home and has been known to go all day when we’ve been out, rushing into the back yard as soon as we get home. When it got to 3am, she decided she could wait no longer, so there I was, wandering around on the village green in my pyjamas under an umbrella in the pouring rain, hopefully no one spotted us!! We had a fairly leisurely breakfast before leaving for the showground about 8.30am, a much more civilised hour than the normal 4am starts we normally have for the Scottish trips. A mixture of sunshine and showers throughout the day saw us being judged outside and Jade won her puppy bitch class and was eventually Best Puppy in Breed under breed judge Jeff Roberts (Mirkwood). Verdi’s sire, Una Volta per Sempre Sorriso del Riccini added his Show Champion Title to his name on the day, also winning Gundog Group 2. Congratulations to owners Suzanne Whittingham, Phil Wright and Christine Bexon.

Good job I was up early today, I had planned to go to a committee meeting but Pearl had other ideas and presented us with a fine litter of 4 boys and 4 girls, starting with the first one being born under my bed. My beloved Jago (who sits staring at me all night long - well, he certainly doesn't sleep much and is licking my face if I so much as turn over in my sleep!!) has also decided the garden needs attending to - I had grown some really nice lilies in pots and they were all just coming into bloom and looking really fab - until I went to Tesco's on Saturday and when I returned my lovely lilies had been pruned to within an inch of their stems and petals were strewn around the garden! He also laid into the bay tree, which had many of its lower branches decapitated!!! He had clearly had a mad moment and glorious amount of fun at my expense! The little dear - obviously the heat had got to him! Why are Spinoni the most destructive of breeds??"
